The annual socio-cultural Ojude Oba carnival
will yet receive another boost in Today as
Africa telecommunication giant, Globacom have
lined up leading Nigerian artistes to be on
bandstand on Ojude Oba day
Speaking at a press conference to usher in the
one week-long event, Mr Ayo Ogunranti, a top
management staff of Globacom disclosed that
there will be a music fiesta where the young
music enigma, Dbanj will thrill the audience.
According to Globacom, others first class
entertainers to expect at the epoch-making
occasion include Fuji icon, Alabi Pasuma,
Korede Bello while Gbenga Adeyinka will anchor
the programme.
In addition to the line up, it was further
gathered that Globacom Ambassadors,
Odunlade Adekola and Funke Akindele will
make special guest appearances.
In a similar development, the
telecommunication giant added that a beauty
pageant has equally been incorporated into the
fiesta where delectable young ladies will
compete for the much-coveted Miss Ojude Oba
crown.
The winner of the beauty competition will smile
home with a cash prize of #150,000, while first
and second runners- up will win #100,000 and
#50,000 respectively.
Speaking further, Mr Ogunranti said by
sponsoring Ojude Oba and other festival with
huge tourism potentials, Globacom is helping to
promote the cause of tourism in the country in
addition to preserving and projecting the
fabulously rich cultural heritage.
We have always held on to the philosophy that
as a leading telecommunications company with
global footprint and a proud Nigerian heritage,
if we don’t play a pivotal role in projecting
Nigeria’s cultural heritage, no multinational
company may be willing to do it at the scale we
have done it”
Meanwhile, speaking earlier, the Chairman
Ojude Oba festival committee, Otunba Wahab
Osinusi, allayed fears of any form of violence
during the annual celebration.
According to him, the committee appreciates
the importance of security and traffic
management as a critical success factor; hence
the body is leaving no stone unturned to ensure
a hitch-free festival.
Otunba Osinusi however disclosed that the
theme of the 2015 edition of the Ojude Oba
festival will be Harnessing our cultural heritage
for economic development.
Also, Senator Mrs Daisy Ehanire Danjuma, wife
of Rtd General Theophilus Danjuma has been
chosen as the Special Guest of honour for the
Ojude Oba 2015 edition.
